Longevity Explorers

The Providence Longevity Explorers is a collaborative program of Hamilton House and the Providence Village. Launched in March 2018, the group meets monthly to explore issues related to the unmet needs of aging adults – in products, services and information. Meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Wednesday, September 16 at 2:30 pm: Please join us and share how you are coping with the coronavirus and your creativity in finding solutions to the many challenges the virus has posed in the last 6 months.
Facilitated by Elissa Arffa, participants will have the opportunity to discuss questions & share how you are weathering the pandemic in zoom small breakout groups. Then listen as groups share the creative and resilient ways we are managing.

Wednesday, October 21 at 1 pm: Please join us for an informative program on Age-Friendly Rhode Island, an initiative of Rhode Island College, a coalition of community and state agencies, healthcare and social service providers, individuals of all ages, advocacy and faith-based organizations, businesses, academic institutions and municipal leaders who are committed to healthy aging.

The mission is to create partnerships, catalyze change, and build community that supports and empowers Rhode Islanders as we age; and the vision is to build a community that enables older Rhode Islanders to live independently with the care, support and resources needed to foster health, well-being, social connectedness and a meaningful life.  
The presenter is Catherine Taylor,the executive director of Age-Friendly RI.  She is an aging and dementia policy expert, and advocate for older adults and people with disabilities who previously worked as Senior Advisor for Policy, Partnerships and Community Engagement at the George & Anne Ryan Institute for Neuroscience and the Rhode Island Geriatric Education Center (RIGEC) at the University of Rhode Island.and continues to serve as project advisor to the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program at RIGEC. She is a commissioner of the Rhode Island Governor’s Commission on Disabilities, and a member of the board of directors of the National Association for Geriatric Education.

Wednesday, November 18 at 1 pm: Intelligent Beings Learning to Live with Artificial Intelligence 

Please join us for an opportunity to share with others your use of technology essential in our daily lives. Diane Strommer, Ronda Umphrey and Jerianne Berman will share their use of tools for safety, health and connection in a virtual world and we invite you to share yours.
